American Window Alliance Member Syron Industries Lands Fort Drum Window Contract

Mike Brisbin, Sales Manager at Syron Industries in Syracuse, NY and the Syron Team won a very competitive government contract by persevering through the bidding process. Syron lost the first round of bidding to another manufacturer but kept abreast of the projects overall success and continued to develop relationships with key Fort Drum personnel.

There were performance issues with the winner of the first set of bids and the project manager proactively decided to re-open upcoming phases for a rebid. Syron acted very quickly to demonstrate the structural advantages of the Alliance product. The Syron presentation focused on the difference in the Alliance platform vs. the competition. Syron also stressed quick turn around for lot releases, on demand releases versus the developer purchasing a trailer load of windows, and training for the installers. Syron was also able to create a competitive advantage with quick turnaround on remakes as well. This consultant type of relationship was attractive to the many quality managers and phase managers at Fort Drum. Syron and the Alliance Window System became the trusted alternative to the “glass and plastic” type of supplier.

Syron won the bid without being the lowest bid! Syron has proven that they are competitive in price with a quality product while bringing more value with the premium Alliance Window Systems, built by professional people and backed up with a strong warranty. Due to Syron’s preparation by listening and interviewing the decision makers, they were able to create a value proposition that fit the specific needs of the Fort Drum project managers. Together they found ways to reduce costs while creating value. The phrase and concept of “value added” was fully exercised in Syron Industries being awarded this project.

Behind the scenes, Tim Hyla owner of Syron negotiated raw materials purchases in creative ways in order for our plant to lower production costs through actual material savings, optimizing material usage, managing production of these units during slower production cycles in order to “cover” our fixed overhead. The ability of Syron to win and manage this contract was and is the result of everyone on the Syron Team pulling together for a common goal.

Congratulations to Syron from the entire American Window Alliance Team for their collective competitive spirit!
